31 Details From A Photograph
The series presents questions regarding our experience of reality, how we understand that experience through perception, and the attempt to discern reality through the creative process. The images function as a photographic reconstruction of reality that is a representational documentation of an intangible (the reflected surface) and the materiality of the tangible (the steel and glass of the building). The images embody contradiction. If you remove the notion that to create a painting, one must use paints, then these images are paintings. Each image is an abstract painting; a found object; a documentation of an object; a representation of a dreamscape; a constructed object; a representational depiction; an autonomous painting. What follows are examples from the series.
