Approaching Abstraction highlights the work of 6 emerging Colorado artists where abstraction dominates their practice. Courtney Griffin, Taylor Herzog, James-Allan Holmes, Matt Joshua, Heather Prall, and Michael P. Toussaint came together in this group show to prove that abstraction can not be confined to a single movement or style. Each artist approaches their medium with different techniques proving just how versatile our understanding of abstract painting techniques are.
Ranging from abstract expressionism to geometric abstraction, this show walks you through different styles of ambiguity in a contemporary setting. There is room to breathe found within the negative spaces scattered throughout the gallery, a moment of raw expression poking through the materials, and pure chance in trusting the process.
